Christmas was fun, but hectic this year. We kicked off celebrating on Friday night with Mimi and Poppy (Zach's mom and dad). I always look forward to the meal, the love, and the family fun at this gathering. This year was no different! Each year the cousins (all under the age of 12) act out the Christmas story as Zach reads along. It's become a tradition they each look forward to. I told them the other night that by the time Georgia was their age, they'd all be in college and better be good sports. LOL!
Our cast of characters. : )
After the Christmas story, we sang carols and Zach's mom got out some momentos from Christmas past. This was a letter Zach had written. It was so sweet (and funny, too)!
And then there were PRESENTS! : )
It was Toms and Justin Bieber perfume for Carlie. I told her when I was her age I asked Santa for "Malibu Musk!" Seriously. I told her to be thankful she didn't live in the 80's!
Gotta do the "smell good" check!
Christmas: The only day you can ride your bike in the house! : )
Christmas Eve is always at my mom and dad's. It's traditional, predictable, nostalgic, and every year it's magical. It suits me well. It's one of my favorite days of the year.
This year with two little ones and Christmas falling on a church day it did make things a little more challenging. With us having to leave by 9 a.m. on Christmas morning to make it to Bellevue on time, I had every intention of making the most of the night and getting the kids in bed at a decent hour. Due to some miscommunication, midnight rolled around and we'd just finished opening presents to and from each other. Jonah settled in with the rest of the family then and mommy settled down for a short winter's nap around 2:30 a.m with a 6 a.m. wake-up call. Needless to say, my Type A self was a nervous wreck, but everything turned out just fine. I was just exhausted, but what parent isn't, right?
He got his "cookie monster."
He got his "horn."
And he got his "umbrella."
Army Men, too!
This could be dangerous! : )
10:43 p.m.
Jonah gave Georgia a baby doll. : )
Pointing to Jesus on his new Bible.
Ceci got Georgia a pillow person, actually a great invention from the 80's. : )
Subway, eat fresh!
Our little music man. He figured out that this went around his neck. I didn't even know it was designed to do that. He said all he needed now was, "band shoes!"
World's Best Dad!
Santa Came! Each child got 3 presents. G got a babydoll/buggy, a tea set, and a shape sorter picnic basket. Jonah got a cookie monster, a mobigo, and a box of legos. In their stockings were teething rings and pacis for G and candy and books for J. All of their gifts from family were in the Santa packs Gigi got for her house. Arent' they cute?!
Like his mother, Jonah loves his "chocnate."
Like her mother, Georgia, loves her...Strong. Coffee.
"Wegos"
She actually enjoyed Christmas a lot more than I thought she would this year.
Look at that Wizard of Oz memorablila. : )
I usually don't get this decked out for Christ mas morning. I got up an hour before everyone else so we could make it on time.
Gotta love the sock bun on a day you don't have time to wash your hair!
Christmas day was spent in Church, lunch at Uncle Clay's (Zach's side) and supper at my Grandmother's. Needless to say I was pictured out by then. I don't even have any great ones to show from that day. We all look like we'd been to one long slumber party. But, it was worth every minute of preparation and it's a Christmas I'll never forget...and maybe the first one Jonah will remember?
