1. How can I contact you to make an appointment?
My contact info is listed on my website.
When do I pay the session fee?
The session fee is paid on the day you book your appointment. This fee must be paid in order to secure your session. The fee $75+tax (or $150 + tax for baby plans) is non refundable, but may be applied to a rescheduled session with 48 hours advance notice. If it rains or there are circumstances beyond your control on the day of your session, you will be offered an alternative session date. If a cancelation notice is not given 48 hours in advance, you lose your session fee.
Why is the session fee non refundable and paid in advance?
Since I have a limited number of appointments available, I have to ensure that the clients who book a session with me are accountable to show up at their designated time. If a you don't show up or give 48 hours notice, that is an appointment time wasted that could have been reserved for another client who wanted a session at that time. I will be happy to reschedule your appointment if given 48 hours notice. That will give me enough time to book a client from the waiting list.
2. How much of an investment do most families make in photography orders?
a. The first part is the session fee. This fee includes my time with you and the time I spend processing the images and posting them on-line after your session. This does not include any prints.
b. The second part is your investment in your final photographic pieces. How long do I have to order? Your photos will be posted on line for one month (an expiration date is on your gallery). During that month, you decide what your needs are and then order online at your convenience. The minimum order amount for orders is $50 (this includes free shipping). If you don't order within the given time YOUR IMAGES ARE DELETED FROM MY COMPUTER. This means you will not be able to order from them in the future because I will no longer have the files. If you do order within the given time, all of your session images are archived for your future needs. It will benefit you to order all you need at this time because there is a $25 re-upload fee for orders placed after the first initial order. After ordering, your order should arrive on your doorstep within one month after I receive full payment for your order. Full payment of your order is expected to be received by your ordering deadline.
3. Do you do weddings and engagement sessions?
I do engagement photos, but I am no longer booking weddings.
4. Do you offer digital files?
Not at this time. I do sell a $50 convenience fee to temporarily upload an image to tinyprints.com or a simlar site.
5. What is a session like?
Sessions with me are so much fun. I have a beautiful natural light studio that is ideal for babies and small children as well as an outdoor space that's beautifully manicured in Spring, Summer, and Fall. Outdoor sessions are great for babies, children and families. My close proximity to the Covington Historic District also provides me with a vast array of places for sessions. I shoot most of my sessions in and around my home and studio, but have several other locations I shoot from time to time. I am also open to your suggestions. I have several locations in the Memphis area that I use as well.
You may bring items along that you want to include that will make your session uniquely you. I will spend time with you or your family, get you in a general area for lighting and composition, set up a few posed shots, and then once things are going well, we will interact to get some more creative shots. I want you to open up your gallery and be confident that I captured you or your family in a moment of time that you will never get back.
6. What should I wear?
Just be you. Your welcome to bring along several choices for me to look at and choose what would be best in the place we will be shooting. In fact, I like you to bring several things so that you can have variety in your session. We'll start with your favorites and then work our way down your wardrobe. But, other than that have fun with it. With children, layered looks are great. My favorite children's vendors for clothing and are the freckled frog, hanna kate, and mini boden. Mini boden has great ideas on their website for putting layered looks together. Think texture, color, and even bring along a hat or two to make it interesting. Texture is great for adults, too. You can't go wrong with anything denim.
7. Do you retouch?
Yes. Please specify your retouching needs on your online order form in the "special instructions" box.
8. What is your style?
My style is editorial/photo-journalistic mixed with classic portraiture. I like to capture the you God created you to be (from the inside out). God created me with this undeniable desire to photograph people and to be creative. I couldn't settle down until I surrendered to that...surrendered to the path God intended for me. Clients have commented, after seeing their images, that they are so thankful that I am sharing my God given talent with them. I am so happy that He is reflected in my work. That is the ultimate compliment and my ultimate goal...to honor and glorify Him in all I do.
9. How many photos will you take?
Each session is distinctly different. There are no minimum or maximum number of "poses." I don't keep up with an image count on my camera, I just go with the flow of the session. I may shoot anywhere from 24-100 or more shots depending on the day. Some sessions take more or less time.
10. Can I print photos from your website or scan my proofs at home or at a photo lab and make copies?
NO. Unless you are getting copies made 70 years after my death or want to pay $100,000 per image. : ) The photos I take are protected by copyright laws. If you scan or copy my images from the Internet to reproduce - that is stealing, plain and simple. Would you walk into Pottery Barn and pick up a piece of framed art work and just walk out of the store with it? Of course not. Please have the same respect for my work. This is how I make a living for my family. As much fun as it is, it is still a job that God provided for me to help contribute to my household income.
11. Why don't you password protect everyone's sessions? Passwords are available upon request. Most clients choose to have an unprotected gallery for convenience to family and friends who may want to view the photos. I don't have a studio storefront with pictures in the windows, so I see my website as a storefront and viewers of the site as passers by.
12. What do we do if it rains? If it rains, and you are planning on an outdoor session, I will contact you to schedule another date.
13. Where can I find information about the baby plan? Click here to learn more about the baby plan
