time to start flexing my photography muscles again

I'm back! Today is my first day back in studio for sessions in over 8 weeks. I am excited about all that's to come this fall and hope you and I will be crossing paths, me behind the camera and you {or your kiddos} in front of my lens. September is booked with the exception of tomorrow morning at 9 and 9/23 at 9 a.m. I had a couple of babies born early and had to bump up so, that left those open spots. October is booked with the exception of the 21st at 9 and the 25th at 9, 3, or 4. November is beginning to book up as well, but the most dates available for fall.

just one month away from heritage day!

Can you believe it? It's almost time for Heritage Day? Fall is in the air and I can't wait!

Don't delay in making your Heritage Day Mini Session Appointment. I'm taking less appointments this year and not taking walk-ups to spend more time with each family. I don't have a photo of the set up I'm using because I've never done it before. It's something fresh and new!

I'll have my victorian sofa out on the lawn with the picket fence and new landscaping in the background for the main shot and we'll do a variety of close ups, individuals, family shots, etc. with each mini. I'll also walk you around our front lot as time permits. 

Sessions are $100 (+tax, due upon booking) and include:

Info from August 2010 about Portraits for Hope: It's been on my heart for sometime that these mini session events need to be purposed for giving back. In Acts 1:8 Jesus says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Sameria, and to the ends of the earth." My Jerusalem is Covington, Judea is Tennessee, Sameria is America, and the ends of the earth are well, the ends of the earth, i.e. Africa, Asia, etc.

I've been struggling with how to connect myself, my family, and my clients with children in need in the 4 parts of the world Jesus has commanded me to reach. So, this is my start. I am going to give a portion of the proceeds from each of my 3 fall mini session events to local, regional, and international charities in the name of Jesus for God's glory. He has blessed us with more than we could ever ask for and I want to share the grace God's shed on me so that His glory may be spread to the ends of the earth.

Info about the Event: In honor of our town's annual Heritage Festival, we celebrate with a mini session event every year. There's a kid's parade around our square and lots of fun activities for families. We’ll be starting sessions that afternoon from 2-5 to give people time to enjoy the festival, take naps and come back for photos when the lighting is best.

This set up goes well with everything from jeans to smocked dresses. White works great and colors do, too. It's totally up to you. All ages are welcome. I am planning on having my gold victorian couch set up on my lawn for one image (with the picket fence in the background) and then I'll be taking you various places around our lot for the remainder of the session. You may do a combination of family and kid pics with this session as time allows. 

Five dollars from each session will go to my sponsor child living in poverty in Kenya. The weekend of Heritage Day is Compassion Sunday, so I thought it quite appropriate to select this charity for this particular mini session event. I hope you'll view their site and talk with your children about how God intended for us not just to thank Him for our blessings but to share those blessings with other children around the world who literally have nothing. 30,000 children in the world die everyday from starvation or a treatable disease. You can make a difference by waking your family up to the reality that God's grace was given to us in America to share with others in the world for His glory. (These are my plans, but only God knows the day of Georgia's arrival).

I'm over 35 weeks and scheduled for a c-section at 39 weeks. 

I have less than 4 weeks left in this pregnancy and 2 weeks and 2 days left in before my maternity leave starts. In that time, I plan on completing 14 sessions on the books as well as uploading those sessions as well as two more previous sessions.

I'll be placing one big order next week (for those of you who've already ordered and paid) and one more order on the 24th for those who order and pay after that initial order.

My last day is June 24. I will return Sept. 1.

If you have proof requests or orders you want placed prior to my maternity leave, you'll need to get those in and paid for before June 24. 

My plan is to place orders received after that point on one designated day at the end of July and one designated day at the end of August. 

This should still keep your orders coming to you within the 4-6 week window. 

To clear up any confusion, I have complete control over all proofing and ordering. It's not an automated process to the lab when you press the order button. I go through each order with a fine tooth comb to assure your images meet my quality standards in terms of color, cropping, and design.

I'll be recovering from major abdominal surgery, enjoying a newborn baby and a 2.5 year old. In advance, I want to thank you for understanding this process and respecting my time away during this transition.

After June 24, I'll be available by email, but don't promise to be tied down to my blackberry responding at lighting speed. This being my 2nd go round at motherhood, I now know how quickly the first year goes and don't want to let technology and business distract from time I can't ever get back.

I will be promoting 3 Fall {Portraits for Hope} events during my leave in August. I'll be taking apts. for those events when the promotion starts on the blog and Facebook. 

There are only 6 apts. left in September, so if your baby plan baby is due for a session, you want to start your new baby on the plan, or you want a regular session in that month, let me know ASAP and I'll get you booked. Those dates are going fast.

It's been a crazy week trying to capture Spring while it's still "springing." : ) I'm working an extra day this week just so I can focus on uploading last weekend's Easter Mini Sessions, which by the way were a HUGE success! Thanks to all of you who have already supported this event. We have one more round of sessions to go this Saturday afternoon (all appointments are filled at this time). 

I have so many BEAUTIFUL images to post from this Spring. It's been a wonderfully colorful year. I can't wait to reveal them all to you. Until then, have a "hoppy" day!

Wow! Thank you so much for your support and speedy booking for April 9's Easter Mini Sessions. Due to high demand, I am opening up the Sunday afternoon sessions from 3-5. I still have one more 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning appointment to fill, too.

I want to fill them all if possible and need your diligence to let me know if you can't make it so I can fill your spot. If everyone shows up, we'll be able to:

a. Fund an existing Kenyan orphan through Light Ministries for 3 months!

or

b. Fund a brand new orphan and support him or her for one month!

From what we've been told, Kenyan children can not be adopted by Americans. That's why we have to take the help to them. We'll be supporting the orphanages Zach spent time in last week. There are so many good things that are being done for them there. These precious people are literally saving the lives of these hopeless children and investing in them spiritually to teach them the Word of God. They also give them an education, so that they can have a way out of poverty. There are children, outside the gates, who aren't funded and longing to be inside those walls. I want to do all I can to connect your children's blessings with those chidren's poverty. I hope you'll be a channel of blessing and support this event and tell your friends so we can fill the remaining 11 spots!
