I always complain about negative media. I have refused to be apart of any negative media story in the past when I've been approached for an interview. I also HATE being in front of a video camera and am not fond of being in the spotlight. But, God has been showing me that you have no business complaining if you aren't doing something to counteract the negative. So, when Justin Hanson approached us about doing a story about how God has been moving among our community to unite us together in prayer in support I was a little nervous, but knew it would be a great opportunity to brag on Jesus. He obtained the family's permission and met us this morning at my studio to do the interview. Echo Day tagged along to interview us for the paper, too.
As I mentioned yesterday, I feel God calling me to keep Lucy on the forefront of everyone's minds and hearts in fervent prayer for her in the marathon of a battle she has yet to face. She needs us as her prayer warriors to support her through this trial.
I have a personal connection to this feeling in the world of super shocker news stories that last for a minute or two and then it's on to the next breaking news. At 17, when my life was turned upside down after the tragic loss of my best friend in a car accident, I heard over and over from people kindly expressing that they were so sad for a weekend or days. They just couldn't get the tragedy off of their minds in the temporary. The counselor at her memorial service even made the statement that it was ok if in three weeks or a month you forgot to think about her for a day or so. You weren't to feel guilty. Weeks? Months? Years? It was so offensive for me to hear that people would forget someone so special to me. If they had forgotten her, they would surely forget to pray for her family and friends. Needless to say, I haven't forgotten Laura. Not out of guilt, but out of love. There has rarely, if ever been a day she didn't cross my mind. Her life and death touched mine in such a way that God used it to transform me into who I am today.
All that to say, I will not forget Lucy and her family and I don't want you to either. Her life matters. There are many sick children in this world, but this is the one God put in my path, to use the abilities and experiences He's given me to help people remember her and give her the hope that she will survive, with God's help and my prayer is that she will use her life for His glory.
Ultimately it's Lucy's fight with God by her side.
So, tune in to channel 5 to hear her story and pray that others are moved to pray for her as well. May God get the glory, great things He has done!
