Pastor Ed and Lori Hawkins joined the Covington Assembly family as Lead Pastors in 2002. They have worked together, in full-time ministry for 23 years. The Lord has brought them through some incredibly difficult trials and has, through His grace and power, richly blessed this family and their ministry. God has opened doors of ministry not only here in the US, but in six foreign countries, as well. They have two amazing sons, Chase and Drew, both of whom are studying for ministry at Fort Myers Master’s Commission in Fort Myers, Florida.
Lori was raised a city girl, just across the Mississippi river from St. Louis in Illinois. At the age of two she sang her first solo in church and has been singing for the Lord ever since. Music has always been an integral part of Lori’s life and ministry. She has traveled extensively and ministered to audiences across the nation and around the world. Her first solo recording, “Free”, was released in 2004. God has given Lori a powerful message of hope and healing and has allowed her to minister powerfully to women across the state of Tennessee and abroad. In September 2010, she obtained her ministry credentials with the Assemblies of God.
Lori serves as the Minister of Music at Covington Assembly. She leads worship, directs the sanctuary choir and works with various instrumental and vocal groups within the church. Lori’s love for Jesus and her passion for ministry are evident as she minister’s each week.
Emily Cook is a life long resident of Covington. After college, God called she and her husband Zach, back to Tipton County to live and serve Him here.
Emily has served on staff at Bellevue Baptist Church and currently owns her own photography studio which she considers a ministry. In 2008, the same year she began studying the Bible chronologically, she started a faith based blog which chronicles her journey of spiritual growth. As she grew in her faith, she had a strong desire to share the knowledge of God's word with others. This led to her leading several home based discipleship groups using the the chronological Bible discipleship method.
God put it in her heart that He wanted to use her to get this curriculem out to her community in a corporate, non-denominational setting. The only problem was, Emily didn't have the facility to accommodate the vision God had given her or the gifting to teach, but she trusted God with what her eyes couldn't see. God put her in the path of Lori Hawkins, who had all the pieces of the puzzle Emily didn't have and vice versa. You see, God had also put a desire in Lori's heart to get His word to the women in our community in a tangible way. God is always faithful to provide what we need to do what He's calling us to do. Hebrews 13:20-21: " May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus...equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
